What these figures mean

Early-voting participation is the count of people who voted, grouped by voter registration. It is not a count of Republican or Democratic candidate votes. Election results are a separate dataset.

Comparisons

Early-voting days are aligned by their index in the election's early-voting window, not by calendar date. Differences in hours, days available, voter registration populations, and districts may affect interpretation. Relative percentage changes and percentage-point differences are never interchangeable.

Boundary changes

Legislative maps changed between election cycles. District-level figures are labeled by the geographic boundaries used. Presidential results for a present-day district require validated precinct or finer-grained geographic reaggregation; the website does not invent them.

Source records

Legislative member and county relationships come from the North Carolina General Assembly’s Senate and House directories, snapshot October 17, 2026. County membership means some portion of a district intersects the county, not necessarily the entire county. Historical election files should come from NCSBE historical results. Political map shading

County coloring reflects the Republican and Democratic shares of actual presidential ballots in the selected election. Legislative coloring reflects the current incumbent party; verified district contest results determine its shade when available, using compatible geography. If vote-share data is absent but party is known, full-strength color indicates party only, not 100% vote support. Neutral gray indicates no verified party identification. Secondary or estimated candidate results are not displayed as certified election returns.

Data status

Missing numerical observations are displayed as unavailable. An empty cell does not mean zero. Failed publication imports retain the previously approved data release. Current representative entries reflect the source snapshot and may change with resignations or appointments.
